AlabamaONE Credit Union

I painted a new mural for Alabama ONE Credit Union in Alberta City, Tuscaloosa, AL. This mural tells the story of the local neighborhood. There are Alabama camellias, Tuscaloosa water oak trees, the old Leland Center sign, the Black Warrior River, bridge, barge, and flyer for the the old West Alabama State Fair that was held in Jaycee Park. Woooh! That's a lot in one mural!

A new mural on the wall of Alabama One credit union in Alberta is a bit more than a nice painting. The mural, done by Demopolis born artist Banks Compton, is a symbol of the the rebirth of the community that was badly ravaged by the 2011 tornado.

Artist Banks Compton recently painted a historically focused mural for the Alabama One Credit Union branch on University Boulevard in Alberta.

The mural features several well-known landmarks that were at one time highlights of the Alberta area, including the Leland Center sign and a flyer from the West Alabama State Fair that was at one time held at Jaycee Park.

"We did this, not just because it's great public art, but because we're committed to being a part of the revitalization of this community and we want to show some pride to Alberta and Tuscaloosa and that's what this does," Houston said.
