The phrase plays on both “you are home” and “your home,” expressing a sense of belonging and community pride.

Public Art That Creates a Sense of Place
The finished mural combines several ideas into a simple message about Livingston.
The words “You're Home” welcome residents and visitors. The flowers bring color and nature into the downtown environment. Student signatures and handprints preserve the community's participation, while the hidden butterflies encourage people to stop and explore the artwork.
Together, these details transform an ordinary downtown wall into something specifically connected to Livingston.
Designed With Livingston in Mind
The mural was designed around a message approved by the City of Livingston: “You're Home.”
Banks surrounded the typography with oversized pink camellias and flowing decorative elements, creating a welcoming composition that stretches across the downtown wall.
The flowers provide bold visual impact from across the street while smaller details reward people who approach the mural.
Hidden throughout the design are butterfly silhouettes, turning the finished artwork into a small visual scavenger hunt for visitors and local families.
Painted With University Charter School Students
Community participation was incorporated into the project from the beginning.
Before Banks began painting the finished imagery, Livingston community members participated in an event where they helped create the doodle grid used to transfer the mural design onto the large wall.
Students from University Charter School then participated in the painting process, helping bring the oversized camellias and other areas of the mural to life.
Their involvement is permanently documented on the wall. Participating students added their names and handprints to the left side of the mural alongside recognition of University Charter School.
Instead of simply creating artwork for Livingston, the process allowed members of the community to become part of creating it.
