Banks Compton's practice extends beyond murals and painting into sculpture, papier-mâché, fabrication, and interactive artwork.
Drawing from his fine-art background and experience building large-scale Mardi Gras floats in New Orleans, Banks occasionally incorporates dimensional artwork into commissions and creates sculptural projects that explore storytelling, movement, texture, and interaction.
Foley Community Library Reading Tree
Foley, Alabama
Created alongside the murals of the Foley Community Library children's section, this custom reading tree was sculpted from foam, installed, covered in plaster, and hand-painted by Banks.
The permanent sculpture transforms imagery from the surrounding murals into a three-dimensional centerpiece for reading and imagination.

Papier-Mâché Seahorse
Wearable Sculpture
This award-winning wearable sculpture demonstrates Banks' approach to papier-mâché and lightweight fabrication. The handmade seahorse combines sculpted forms with paint, rhinestones, shimmering fringe, and movement.
The project was later featured in a Gulf Coast Media profile of Banks and his creative practice.
Color + Sound II
Shelby County Arts Council | Columbiana, Alabama
Created for the Color + Sound II exhibition, this interactive blue sculpture combines a sculptural sun with hanging chimes, bells, shells, plastic discs, and found objects.
Inspired by Gulf Coast weather, the piece responds to wind and touch, creating sound and movement as visitors interact with it.
